No question, there's been much said and written about the Corvette curse. This particular car had its share of problems as well, but boy was it beautiful. From its colorful lettering over candy red paint, to its period gold wheels and roadster top, this was a cool car!
Die hard Chevy fans and anyone who appreciated quality race cars just loved this car. From the red, white and blue to the polished wheels and Chevy power, this car ran well and always looked great.
I've always liked Challengers and they made great funny cars. This is the famous Ramchargers 1970 version. While both Mickey Thompson '69 Mach 1 Mustangs are reported to have dipped below the 6 second barrier first, this is the car that did it officially and repeatedly at major events.
This is one of my all-time favorite funny cars. Not only did the Javelin's body shape work well, but this car really was the first competative rear engine fuel funny car. Not a big winner, but when later equipped with hemi power, it proved to be quite fast and its elapsed times really kept it competitive. Although it was probably a handful to drive, you gotta love the red, white & blue.
There's no other way to describe it folks; this was the first blown nitro funny car. This little Comet shocked the world when it showed up at any track in 1964. People went literally crazy. They had never heard, smelled or seen anything quite like it. Chrysler gave strict orders to its factory cars not to race it, and for good reason. It was almost a full second quicker.
All of Ohio George Montgomerry's race cars were winners and his Willys is probably the most famous. By the time he went to this Mustang it was obvious why he retired the Willys. This cammer powered stang blew the doors off most of the competition.
